Sponge filters or 5 gal DIY canister?

    Hey all !

Been out of this for years, recently got 6' 100 gal, will be freshwater small fish not high bio load community tank w trickle water change.

Some basic plants, lots of rocks, driftwood.

Was planning a PROPERLY engineered and made 5 gal bucket filter... NOW considering 2 or 3 air driven ATI/ AAP Hydro Sponge #5 instead.

Have read much and watched pro/ con videos

I have large rocks to hide behind, looks is no trouble.

Asking those that have long term experience in larger tanks such as this 100.

Canister (5 gal bucket) vs Sponge ?

If nothing else I can start w the sponges and add the canister filter down the road.

I'm pretty detail oriented and prefer such answers please.

    Thank you !!

    Marc
