Day 9 i added the dime for size comparison. Using the pointed white crystal as focus point for the camera.

    Looking good...

On the subject, if you plan to fertilize, after doing much reading on pros and cons of different systems over the last few weeks... I decided to go with the "PPS-Pro" fertilizer system...

    https://sites.google.com/site/aquati...ertilizer/home

Seems pretty simple, and darn cost effective as a no-brainer fert option... Just mix the dry ferts with 500ml distilled or RO water, and eye dropper it into the tank once a day... You will need a digital scale though to measure the dry stuff... I also picked up five 50ml eye dropper bottles on Ebay for $8, and did the 'bulk' 500ml mix in some 550ml squirt bottles I got from the dollar store...

    Dollar store bottles... https://www.dollartree.com/Transluce...8081/index.pro

    Dropper bottles... http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-15-30-50-...A/141720721695

Got the dry ferts from here, probably a lifetime supply for me and most others...

    http://greenleafaquariums.com/aquari...rtilizers.html

The only thing it didn't come with was MgSO4 aka Epsom Salt, Walmart sells an 8lb bag of 100% USP (food/drug grade) for just over $5, enough for a lifetime supply of aquarium ferts and many foot soakings Click here to enlarge

    https://www.walmart.com/ip/Epsom-Mag...8-lbs/49231899

Just figured I would toss it out there is you plan to try ferts...

Thank you that "PPS-Pro" looks so simple even i may be able to do it...Click here to enlarge

Do you think FARM grad (KNO3) would work we buy it by the tun. and no self respecting farm house would be with out Magnesium sulphate. it has 1,000,001 uses.

Do you need to have a co2 setup for the "PPS-Pro" fertilizer system?

Farm grade KNO3 should work, sometimes it has anticaking agents in it though but on many of the planted tank forums when I was reading up, a lot of people get their KNO3 from local plant nurseries... The amount you use for the PPS-Pro system is so little even if it had anticaking I doubt it will cause a problem...

You can of course also source the ferts individually, I just could not justify multiple shipping charges vs what Greenleaf charged for all of it...

The PPS-Pro system site has three dosing levels based on light amounts, and doesn't specify supplemental CO2 so I would say no for low light, probably would want to consider it for high light system... I plan to do CO2 in the future but as of now I'm not...

Talked with my cousin that stores all the fertilizer. One of his youngins dumped bone meal in it. Not necessarily a bad thing for corn or beans but i dont think i need it in my aquarium...Click here to enlarge

I don't have much experience with aquatic plants but I hear a lot of plants face dying back when fully submerged... For that reason I would personally do the transition sooner then later, IMO (and just that my opinion) I would rather risk killing back the 10 days worth of growth and having to start over vs 20, 30 or more days and having to start over... Of course, I'm not saying any potential die back from submersion would be 100%, but since the seeds germinated so well and easy for you it's easy enough to start over at this point...

As I said these are my opinions, my aquatic plant experience is limited, but I'm learning...

Yeah, the ferts arrived several days ago... Mixed it up right away and started that day, using a medium dosage rate... And in only a few short days I can definitely tell it's helping the moss... The Java moss went from a medium green to a very healthy looking dark green in just a few days time...

To give an idea of my setup for now, the Java moss is in a 1 gallon critter container, no water movement like a pump or what not and no CO2... I give it a quick stir maybe 3 times a day as I walk by, basically I just move the moss around so the lower stuff gets light and all the pearling bubbles are knocked off... It's sitting under three 23W 6500K CLF bulbs about a foot above the top of the tank, in a reflective lined mini indoor greenhouse, so a lot of light above and the reflective light coming in from the sides...

For clarity it's in a small 4 tier indoor greenhouse (see below) that I normally use to grow indoor spices for cooking... It's sitting on the top shelf with the three 23W CFL bulbs on 'stringer wire sockets' from the ridge line of the greenhouse... Plus I modded my greenhouse by making a 2nd inside skin out of metallic silver tablecloths, I leave the front open all the time or else it will bake the plants in there, but the three reflective sides and reflective roof keep a lot more light inside the greenhouse...
