    Blue ram habitat

So recently iv'e decided to turn my 46 bowfront tank into a blue ram specified tank. i know how to care for them. i want to know how i can change my tank to a blue ram habitat.

i like to use live plants so i would like some plant info if along with any suggestions.

    aside from the habitat
any blue ram breeding info will be welcome.

    i currently have 9 rams:

    4 Normal blue rams
    3 wild blue rams
    2 electric blue rams

    my other current fish include:
1 turquoise discus ( tank was originally centered around them but ive come to learn my tank isn't big enough even for 2 or 3)
    2 striped rapheal cats

one more thing: does anyone know if it's possible to sex the electric blue rams? (aside from waiting for them to pair off.)

    My tank currently:

there was originally a lot more plants but due to a massive algae bloom i prune a lot of them down
there was a massive sword plant centered but it was pruned down to a tiny new leaf and is currently re growing

Rams come from the amazon and central america so their natural habitat would be a blackwater river setting with lots of branches and plants to hide in. I think what you have is a very nice start. Maybe you could add more drift wood and plants to give all those rams a place to hide. They'll need lots of hiding spaces and breaks in the line of sight when they start pairing up and spawing.

I believe female rams tend to have fatter bellys and a pink hue on their belly as well. Not sure how that applies to electric blues though.

The lower Anal Fin can help with sexing Rams. With the blue and gold rams not all males can breed due to hormone and genre therapy injections over half the males become infertile. Rams are also monogamous so the chances of getting a breeding pair to bred with a different fish is not easy if it can be done at all most times.
